...tak, ako pán Orbán, žiada (strana Sme rodina, pozn.), aby boli otvorené zmluvy, na základe ktorých momentálne Európska únia funguje a aby z týchto zmlúv boli vyhodené všetky veci, ktoré medzi nami robia len rozpory a rozdiely a aby tam boli ponechané iba tie veci, na ktorých sa všetci zhodneme.
Blížiaci sa summit lídrov v Bratislave - 12.09.2016
Maďarský premiér Viktor Orbán, sa viackrát vyjadril v zmysle, že je potrebné reformovať zmluvy, na základe ktorých funguje EÚ. Zdôraznil najmä oblasť vonkajších hraníc, bezpečnosti a spoločnej menovej a rozpočtovej politiky. Výrok Milana Krajniaka hodnotíme ako pravdivý.
Viktor Orbán sa 20. novembra 2015 v rádiu Kossuth vyjadril, že lídri EÚ musia znovu zvážiť základné otázky fungovania EÚ. V interview rozoberá problematiku bezpečnosti a ochrany vonkajších hraníc – potrebu novej úpravy reflektujúcej teroristické hrozby a migračnú vlnu. Kríza v eurozóne, podľa názoru Orbána, je tiež dôvodom na prehodnotenie nastavenia spoločnej menovej a rozpočtovej politiky.
"It is very likely that once we have reconsidered these fundamental
issues, the treaty which created the European Union will also be in need
of review. The Schengen Agreement is one of those agreements which are
definitely in need of amendment, but the same is true if we think back
to the financial crisis in Greece, or the financial crisis before that
and the responses we made to those crises. If we look at the state the
euro is in, and if we wonder whether it is possible to have a common
monetary policy without fiscal coordination, then this is also likely to
call for amendments to the treaties. We come to the same conclusion if
we want to take action against the threat of terrorism. We need new
rules if we do not want immigration to continuously undermine public
security – because wherever there are immigrants in large numbers, the
facts show that crime rates increase. So I think the time has again come
to ask fundamental questions about the European Union."
19. decembra 2015 Viktor Orbán poskytol rozhovor českému denníku Lidové noviny, ktorý vyšiel v printovej verzii novín. Orbán sa v rozhovore opäť dotkol problémov EÚ a potreby prehodnotenia zakladajúcich zmlúv. "The British prime minister is advising us to stop and see where we have lost our way. He is also right in that this may even bring about a review of some of the important provisions of the EU Treaties. I support this line of thought."
